Earlier last year I had thought about growing my hair out to donate for Locks of Love.
I wanted to do it in honor of sweet Cora.
Before I had ever really gotten the chance to completely commit, our 6 year old niece, Sydney, was diagnosed with Leukemia, and within a month lost all of her beautiful hair.
Days upon finding out Sydney's diagnosis, Dave said to me "you know, now you gotta grow your hair out and donate it."
But whether he had suggested it or not, I had already decided.
So today was the day. I'm not really even sure how long I actually grew it out for, but it seemed like forever! I have definitely been ready for a new do. It came just in time for not having to blow dry all that hair all summer long.
Locks of Love says you need 10 inches measured from tip to tip.
I will admit that today I was quite nervous. I've had my hair short before, but I was hoping I had grown it out long enough to not have to cut it TOO short.
The sound of the scissors cutting through all that hair was such a awful sound, but the minute I saw it was gone, I knew I was going to love it already.
I'm so excited to be able to donate my hair to such a great cause in honor of two beautiful little girls.
Sydney has been so brave and confident as she has fought this disease, that she hasn't even wanted a wig. At first she wore lots of hats, but I don't think she even wears those much anymore.
She is awesome! And brave and beautiful - with or without hair!
But I know there are others out there that have to go through hair loss who may not be quite as confident as Syd.

So here is the after.
Kaylee did an awesome job and I love it so much!
The event was much more special having Cora's mommy there with me.
Not just to be the picture taker.
My hubby says he is glad that the shower drain will now have a break.
Taylor smiled so big when she saw me and immediately asked if she could get hers cut that short too.
She also told me that it was really cute, but then reassured me that it was still cute when it was long too.

i LOVE it!!!!
Cora has touched so many lives. I live in Ohio and found The Mac's blog (and then yours) from people who are friends with people they are friends with. I have curly hair and have never grown it long, but when I saw Jess' post a while back, I decided to grow my hair out too for Cora. I think yours looks great short! Mine still has a long ways to go, but it makes me feel like I am doing something for the Mac family.
LOVE IT!!!
