and this little guy is a major reason why...
He's growing up a lot lately.
He has a few favorite things to do, and this is one of them...
He loves to draw with a PEN.
I think it makes him feel BIG.
It's fun to notice differences in your kids.
I'm noticing he is more particular about things.
He draws nicely, and slowly.
He wants things a certain way.
He notices when things are different.
He lines things up carefully.
We found these under his pillow.
This is how they stay every night when he sleeps.
In a line, under his pillow.
He lifts his pillow, makes sure they are still there and IN LINE and then covers them up again.
Oh yeah...and another of his favorite things...that cell phone that is in line with his cars.
The guy at the phone store gave both the kids REAL (but old) cell phones.
They have been a big hit lately.
He's picked up some pretty crazy sleep routines too.
This is how he took his nap one day.
And he LOVES books. And his Cars couch.
He'll say "book" and then "cow" to sit on his couch to read.
And then "up" for me to cover him up with his blanket.
And Lightning McQueen is still running strong in our house.
In fact - it looks like Lightning will be making an appearance at his 2nd birthday in less than a month!
I drug my feet because I was dying to do a fun cowboy birthday (he has a cowboy/western themed room so there are lots of cute things to use), and I got even more inspired after a friend of mine from my hometown did THIS for her little cutie's 2nd birthday!
Although I would never have done even CLOSE to as good of a job as she did.
I even bought a cowboy tshirt at halloween for him to wear. But I guess I can try to take that back.
It's not about me.
It's about putting a smile on this little guy's face.
And I'm pretty sure a Lightning McQueen cake will do that FAR better than the cowboy hat I would have done.
28 days till the big 2!
WHERE'D MY BABY GO???????

Guess that means it's time for more!!! Come on, continue the tradition!!!
Ahh...I love reading about all the things he's doing. Boys are so much fun, and I can relate to a lot!
He will LOVE the Lightning McQueen party and cake! That's great that he's "into" something and you can plan around that. Barrett has just recently started getting into trains. It's probably hard not to do the cowboy theme you'd been thinking of, but you are a good mommy for giving him something he'll really enjoy!
Good luck! Can't wait to see the party pictures :)
Unbelieveable! The boys are almost two! How can it possibly be that it's been two years since we were in the hospital together with our sweet boys?! I hope you're doing well...I always love to see what Mason is up to. Maybe next time I'm in KS we can get them together to play again!
aWW..Carly just turned two and I am SOOOOO sad about it. He is very precious.
I caved for Lightning McQueen too. "Cars Movie" as Grant calls him. I swore I would never have a character themed birthday party until my kids ASKED... that only lasted a year. There is something-about-that-car.... Good Mommies always give in... at least on their birthday! :)
I love how he lines his cars up. That sounds a lot like the things my brother used to do. Just wait till he catches fire-flies and lets them go in his room for a night light! 0h-and the blog banner is from picasa. I saw how to do it from a link on Little Home's blog. I think that's the name anyway. I really like it. You can change them whenever you want to! Hope you're all ready for the shower! Can't wait to see all your neat stuff!
