spilt milk

Well, I guess this was bound to happen sometime.

Just got bored I guess.

I was trying to scold him and take a picture at the same time....not very affective I suppose.

We've actually been quite impressed with this little guy...he is doing AWESOME with his spoon and fork and has only tipped his plate/bowl a few times. He doesn't typically make messes on purpose and for the most part doesn't drop things off his tray.

He DOES like to scream at me for more food. Or scream at me for everything that is edible in his sight. He will also spit out what he is currently chewing if you come at him with anything else to add to his plate...he's too excited to try the next thing, he just has to get rid of what he was already chewing. He also likes to shake his head and hands furiously at me if I try to give him something other than what he REALLY wants. So meal times are definitely not the easiest part of the day with him....but they'll get better!

We moved him from his highchair to a booster seat at the "big" table already. This is WAY sooner than we did this for Taylor. So no more baby in the highchair...we can now eat as a family of 4 around the table! And he is enjoying this MUCH more.

Today he also FINALY used his sign language for "please". I have been trying and trying to get this little guy to do a few signs....starting at 10 or 11 months I was using them a lot with him. Oh no, he is stubborn. He stares at me, and insists in getting what he wants WITHOUT using these silly signs that mommy and Taylor are trying to teach him. But he finally caught on today. When he signs "please" he gets the cracker he wants. Once he realized this, he was a PRO!
So now we'll keep working on "more". Maybe that will help these "fits" we're having when it comes to food. We'll see.

I sure do love this little guy....he keeps me on my toes more than I ever had to be before. He challenges me and makes me work on my patience every day. But oh man, I am starting to see how fun and sweet a little boy can be....the way he gives me kisses, cuddles into me, comes to my legs and reaches up for me....SUCH a mommy's boy. And I am LOVING it!

Okay, I just had to check out a fellow blogger who happens to have the exact same title as me and lives in the same STATE! What a small world.

I've been reading through your blog and have been amazed by the similarites between us! Although your kiddos are quite a bit closer in age than mine (my two are just at 2-years apart) I have a first-born daughter and a sweet little man.

Ben has had a history of ear infections and so he qualified for speech services through our county's infant/toddler services program. He is well on his way to talking now, but I remember the sign language days so well. It is such a thrill when they start using the sign and then using the sign and speaking the word at the same time. Now, Ben doesn't sign at all. :( But, he's speaking really well.

Come by for a visit anytime!
