gavin {8 months}

Gavin turned 8 months a couple of weeks ago.  I was hoping after having to re-do his pictures last month, (after accidentally deleting them all), that this month's pictures would be better.

But our sweet little boy was just not happy at all. It's hard enough to try to find one time to fit a little photo shoot in, so I'm not about to try to find a 2nd time.  So this is what you get of Gavin at 8 months.

Definitely not a very good representation of him.  But he really wasn't happy about having to lay on his back for pictures.

I had about 5 short seconds when he stopped crying, so I clicked as fast as I could.  And then he started getting upset again.

What a big month!  You are officially on the move.  All over the place.
You crawled for the first time at Aunt Rebekah's house in Cincinnati on the last day of our vacation.  You also pulled yourself up to your feet all by yourself that day too. I guess you were just wanting to show up for cousin Alice.
Within a week from being home from vacation you were all over the place at home, down the hall, room to room, in the bathroom, under the table, and pulling up on everthing.  It's been a long time since we've had to chase a baby around the house, make sure doors and gates are closed and fish something out of a baby's mouth every 10 minutes.  You are definitely keeping us on our toes.

A few other memories of your 8th month:

*your first family vacation to Michigan
*your first 4th of July, thankfully you slept soundly through all the fireworks
*your first time to be away from mommy for a long period of time - 4 days!  We both did fine.
*we finally got your neck straightened out

*your choice method of communication is a high pitched squeal.  All the time. You have yet to really say anything else.  No syllables, maybe some vowel sounds here or there.  You just prefer to scream when you're happy, when you want to get someone's attention, when you're mad, really just for anything.  Your poor daddy's sensitive ears - it's actually quite painful for him. I think we need to figure out how to break you from this.  It was only cute for about the first 3 minutes.

*you STILL like your legs to be swaddled up to sleep. We have been thinking about trying to see what you'd do if we don't swaddle you, but sleep time is so precious around here, why mess with it?

Oh goodness how you do my heart good.  Perhaps now, more than ever before.
Your sister heads off to school in 2 days.  Your brother goes to preschool in a few weeks.
Oh, how thankful I am for my little straggler.  I hope you're ready for lots of Mommy and Gavin time soon. It's just gonna be me and you sweet boy.

So very sweet! Al's youngest brother is a real straggler - like around 7 years after the youngest. But what a blessing to his parents (Mom was 42 when he was born). Hey, maybe a stuffed animal or favorite blankie for him to hug would have helped the crying? Who knows. Sometimes, they just need to cry, huh?
