the other side of the fence

(sorry to those of you that saw this post yesterday morning and then it dissappeared.  I had some major technically difficulties when I went back in to change a mistake.  Next time I'll just leave my mistakes)

Having best friends move in behind you is FUN!!! And if us adults think it's fun, I can only imagine how much fun the kids think it is!!!

The weather had been beautiful so we've had lots of time already to spend with our new neighbors, and they haven't even moved in yet. But with all the fun, I didn't realize we'd be learning some new lessons through it all too...

*We can't play outside with friends 24/7. We do have to eat and sleep still. (I'll let you decide if the kids or adults are struggling with this one)

*And when we can't, we do not need a 20 minute meltdown. I'm not sure how we will survive if that is what is ahead of us all the time.

*Yelling from one back door to the other is fun for now, but our neighbors may begin to complain.

*When you're in need of a screwdriver, just YELL from one house to the other, and one will be thrown through 2 backyards and land a few feet in front of you.

*We have never ever had issues with dinner time before - but we may need to be implementing ropes soon, to tie them to their chairs. Dinner is SO not fun anymore, now that they have to stop playing with friends to come in and eat.

*Having a 4 wheeler is pretty handy when you live 30 feet from someone but you still have to walk around multiple houses to get there. Like I said, a gate will be handy.

*Even if you know the way - walking to the other house when parents don't know, with your little sibling following you, is not safe. (another reason the gate will be helpful)

*Men who are working and concentrating really hard to build a staircase railing don't need their wives standing there questioning them before BIG IMPORTANT cuts are made into pieces of wood. It's better to just walk away and come back when the job is coming together and looking great! Less stressful for all.

*Mornings now start with a "check" to see if Ollie and Lily are "home".

Sometimes they aren't.
But sometimes they are.

 *All you gotta do is yell their names and your friends come running!

*The bounce house is way more fun with friends!

(and a great form of entertainment while one mom paints and another mom cooks dinner)

*Oh, and the last and maybe biggest lesson....DON'T LET THE DOG OUT!!!!!

I'm sure the list of stories and collection of pictures will grow and grow! Whether just for a few months, or many years!
