It's just nice to that not everyone has it as "put together" as sometimes our blogs lead people to believe!
I love to hear that other moms feed their kids canned fruit and veggies, and can't keep up with the duties of the house...or who just don't want to. I love to hear that other stay-at-home moms sometimes get bored or unmotivated to do the "work" we're supposed to be doing. It's nice to hear when others are asking questions, wondering why things happen, and sharing their vulnerability and lessons with others.
Of course, I know we're not going to share EVERYTHING in our blogs.
And for most of us, what goes on inside the walls of our homes really is a mystery to others...which is FINE!
But most of the time we share only our best pictures and tell only the stories that we think are worthy to share.
But sometimes it's just nice to know that others are running around with their heads chopped off, feeling lost and behind and psychotic, and stressed and emotional.....and everything in between.
Hopefully this picture can help you in some way.

Meet the never-ending disaster called our basement.
Honestly, I could probably take this exact same picture every 2-3 days.
Yes, 2 pieces of furniture are completely covered with piles of clean laundry.
And yes, those are snot rags on the coffee table, and some empty food wrappers.
And order forms from a jewelry show...spread out all over the table and strung out on the floor.
I can handle this for a short period of time...maybe 12-24 hours.
But pushing 24 hours, I begin to hyperventilate.
Sometimes it's just not worth cleaning up though. Because the next day, it happens all over again. Okay, maybe not the trash and the laundry, but definitely the toys.
So anyway...I challenge my blogger friends to show some of your "keeping it real photos"!
You can't leave me hanging in such a vulnerable state alone.

This post made me smile!! My house is unbelievably picked up for the moment, but I'll snap a few one of these days when it is a wreck and share!!
It happens to ALL of us...even those who claim to have it all together!! Promise!
yeah, pretty sure our couch downstairs has a permanent pile of clean clothes on it. But at least they are clean!
Oh Amanda -- I love that photo because it truly does show reality. I'll gladly show you some "real" photos of our lives sometime on our blog. Just stay tuned :)
Amanda -
I am checking out your blog after your sweet comment on my own. I read this post (which made me smile and laugh out loud) and the last.
I'm sure your sons birthday celebration will come with many mixed emotions. I'll be thinking of you this week.
So glad that Jess & Joel have so many wonderful friends in Newton that will be there for them.
I'm e-mailing you about the slideshow...

horray for messy basements! i'm sure mine will look more like that when we have 2 kids! i'm too much of a neat freak... :) hehe.
BUT i do understand what you mean about keeping it real. i definatly don't have it all put together...
Okay, don't get me wrong...I would consider myself a very organized person and always have to have things clean...but the importance of that has slowly diminshed as I added another child to the mix, and they are getting bigger and messier. I've tried to keep this cleaned up all day...but then that's what I'm doing ALL day long. Do you know how fast this actually happens! If you're thinking this is a pile up over a week's time...WRONGO! This happens within hours sometimes!
I love it! I thought for a second this was my living room :) Love your blog & thanks for 'keeping it real'....I stay at home & get totally overwhelmed at the mess my kids make in 3 seconds flat!
I love it Amanda! Looks like our upstairs playroom! I will post pictures soon!
Bless you Amanda for be courageous enough to share that with the world. My home often looks that way with only one child who is not at home during the day. It's amazing how quickly neat and tidy and clean and organized can descend into total messy chaos. Before Caden I was so much cleaner and more together!! Thanks for keeping it real!! Off to do something about osme of our mess here!
I just hopped over here from the Macs blog and I love this post and am Sooo going to copy it on my blog. I tell you what, I'm tired of reading blogs about perfect moms who do crafts, bake and have perfect houses! Seriously?? Love it that you're keeping it real.
I don't know you (I came across through blog hopping) but I LOVE this post. My best friend and I were talkinng about this exact same thing two weeks ago. I wrote about this two weeks ago and then I deleted it because I didn't want my friends to think I was getting annoyed by them and their "perfect" lives. I sometimes feel that I am the only one who doesn't make their own baby food or use cloth diapers, or blog about the frustrating can crazy side of being a parent but after reading your post, I feel better knowing that there are "real" parents out there like me. Thanks!
I posted my messy life pics :)
I came here through the Macs blog. I've never left a comment there, but just wanted to say that from reading just a couple of your posts I can tell what a great friend you are. I'm glad they have people like you in their life.
And I had to comment on this post becasue I agree so much. I know we all have "junk" in our lives and for the most part people choose not to share it...either out of pride or embarassment or maybe just cause no one else is. But I also try to "keep it real" and appreciate that you are too!
